bigmikeyb245 asked:

I play poker a lot and one thing I’ve never been able to figure out is why do people that loose a lot often think their the best poker player around and insist to try and teach other people how to play. The other night I was playing texas hold em which is the only thing I play and I made a bad bluff and lost 800 dollars only 40 of that was my own cash and the lady across the table who has at the time probably lost about 400 atleast of her own cash starts to telling me how bad of a poker player I am and that I should of never made that bet and that seems to happen ever night there is one person that will loose a lot that will tell you how bad of a poker play I am. I hadn’t really won any of her money so it’s not like she had a grudge why do people that loose always think their best?
you want to call me a donkey fine but hope were never that the same table I usually walk away with atleast 1k in my pocket hell friday I walked away with 2500 in my pocket. The other night that hand I lost on the flop I had a straight draw a flush draw and a straight flush draw it just happened to be the guy who was bluffing cought a two pair I stand behind the way I played my hand and so did the rest of the table. A donky does not make 1k every time he plays.

I have played poker for 35 years. In the Navy and a lot of Saturday night frinds games with 5 or 6 people. I have recently started playing Holdem on line and people react differently with play money but there are players that have millions on line.

First how do they get that much money especially in YAHOO holdem at $1.00/$2.00. there isnt enough hours in a life to do it by my calculations.

Yahoo seems to bet bet bet before the flop to raise the pot and I dont play there any more, plus the people are rude.

Poker stars and Full tilt: I just started a week ago at full tilt poker.org

I played in the 5/10 format until last night and being new to Holdem I studied the advanced tips in How it works .com. These rules dont apply at the 5/10 level. Last night I went to the $50/100 tables and kicked their butts. $7,000 in 1-1/2 hours. I’m more used to the 5 and 6 player format that allows you to bluff with out (Capt. Stay alot) ruining your game. Need hyper links to tips.

I play poker at my school and I’ve made about 10 dollars but I was wondering if its okay for me not to bluff as we play with either no anti or 25 cents to see the flop. If I should be bluffing do you have any tips for how go about it? Also is it a good idea to give fake leads when you have a good hand so people think you’re bluffing?

Sabres management’s bad poker face?

Bob Loblaw has first dibs asked:

The Sabres brass is crying about the Oilers doing this to poor old them like a bunch of incompetent lttle cry babies. It is part of the rules, the option is there for all teams to make runs at restricted FA’s, not just the Oilers. Now they are turning it into a personal vandetta, what a joke. They are quickly being the laughing stock of the NHL and I love seeing it unfold.
Edmonton didn’t even have an interest in Vanek for that money but the Sabres showed their poker face, Edmonton bluffed and the Sabres called. Pathetic. Now they want to whine and go on about how the next time the Oiler’s have a big restricted FA they are going to offer him a big contract. Won’t it be funny when the Oilers don’t match and take their 4 first picks and stick them with another huge OVERPAID contract? Oh, the irony of dealing with morons. As Kevin Lowe said, it is a business.

Also, this could have all been avoided if they were smart and locked up Vanek 2 weeks ago…..
Like Florida did with Nathan Horton. 6 years at 24 million. They shelled out atleast an extra 20 million dollars on poor managemant and screwed themselves for years to come.
So now what do they do? Blame Edmonton, it is their fault that they can’t run a team is what they will want you to believe. They should look in the mirror if they want someone to blame.
I also find it hilarious that the next few years are expected to be very strong drafts with a ton of future superstars coming along. They even say that one (John Tavares) is the next Crosby.

I must say, what a bunch of incompentent babies. Something else that gets lost in this is what it does in terms of players going to arbritation, it gives them more money. They can go into their hearing with the Vanek contract in hand and say, if he is worth this, then I am worth this, driving up their value. Is this Edmonton’s fault or Buffalo’s fault?
I can guarantee you that had Buffalo offered Vanek 7 years/35 million last week….
He would have been signed, sealed and delivered. Again, who’s fault is that?
Yeah, Vancouver whined too, that doesn’t make it right. Also, Edmonton is small market AND, the restricted FA rule isn’t just there for nothing. It is part of the CBA, any team can utilize it and Clarke and Lowe did it properly. Etiquette? This isn’t a game of golf, it’s a business, one that Sabres management obviously doesn’t know how to manage. Also, to tell them they would match ANY offer is pure stupidity.

How many times, in her recent interview with Chris Matthews, did Hillary begin a sentence with the words?

harryd asked:

“You know,……”? Hillary has an uncontrollable “tell”, which is a poker term for an unconscious mannerism that a poker player uses when he’s bluffing. Starting sentences with “You know” has been Hillary’s tell each time she’s about to tell a lie or tapdance around an answer. She’s been doing it consistantly for several years now. It’s funny to watch.

A J asked:

say u have a 10 and Q and on the flip comes a 10, 7 , J, u catch one pair of 10, but everyone else folds but one guy. so u keep playing because u have a pair and it was only 50 cents to call so now its between u and him now. on the turn comes an 8, its ur turn to check or raise, u raise 2 dollars trying to make the other guy think u got a straight jack high but the other guy calls beacuse he thinks u’re bluffing. so now u are in trouble because because the other guy thinks ure bluffing and he’ll call whatever amount u bet. so on the river comes another 8 and u dont get a straight, so would u go in all in beacuse u still have pair of 10’s and the other guy most likely might not have anything at all or if not go all in, how much would u bet ?
in this case, the suits of the card doesnt mean anything, so no flush possibilties
