I know a guy (and I have verified this) who makes money playing texas holdem online…we play together and unless he’s bluffing all the time
im just as good as he is…so….how does it work? Do they have small tables? What are the buy ins? Do they have penny tables? Anyone have any horror stories, or anything good to report about it? I have a good money management system, and a fold em/hold em strategy, im not worried about that….

Try fulltilt.com I love it. They ‘ll match your deposit. They have $1.25 buy in tables. They also have play chip tables and some pros do play on there. IF your’re quick enough you can sit in at their table.
There are plenty of people who make money online. Play at one of the major sites (see link).
Play really small, very low stakes. Make sure you are winning before you move up to larger stakes. Understand that online is a different animal than real life. Expect very loose and often stupid play. So don’t bluff too much.
As long as you play at a major site you should be fine.
To answer your questions:
They have 2,6 and 9 person tables. The buy ins are as little as 1c/2c no limit at some sites, with tournaments as little as a dollar.
Buy in for $100 and play conservative and low limit and see how it goes. Then work your way up.
The stakes in online poker games go from penny games to mid stakes to high stakes, you can pretty much find anything you want to play. There’s also deposit bonuses, so make sure you sign up at a site with a good deposit bonus (check out the review and rakeback section on for a good breakdown) or rakeback, that way you get extra cash on top of your winnings.
Online is a lot of fun, you get to play more hands per hour because a computer dealer doesn’t take as long as a human dealer, and such, and the shuffling online is truly random, unlike a human dealer who if he’s not very good might not shuffle right. So I vastley prefer online to home games just because of the better shuffling and faster games.
If you get into an Online Poker Game and you don’t like your position at the table, the other players, the aggressiveness of play, the lack of aggressive play, you can jump out and find another game in seconds. That’s something you can’t do at a traditional Casino.
Always check out the Free Poker Games first. Here you can learn how to place your chips, ante up, raise, bet, fold, etc. Every software manufacturer’s game is slightly different, so you need to familiarize yourself with the system first.
Before jumping in an Online Poker Game, check and see if there’s Help or How To button. This should provide you with some helpful hints for getting into the game, sitting out a hand, time limit to bet, and leaving the table. You don’t want to lose your seat just by sitting out a hand.
Some Online Poker Rooms allow you to watch games in play. Watch and follow the table play to get a feel of how others are playing the game. Learn from their mistakes and pick up valuable moves. If an Online Poker Room allows you to check out others play histories, take advantage. This is important if you find yourself in a game with someone whose play history you’ve studied.
Before getting a seat in an Online Poker table, check to see who’s playing the tables. If you see a name playing two or more tables simultaneously, you know you have an experienced player there, possibly a real pro. Take heed before you jump into the game this guy or gal is playing.
A lot of Online Poker sites allow you to make notes on individual players active at a table. Write down a player’s technique, idiosyncrasies, betting behavior, bluffing behavior, etc. You will need this information when you jump into a game with a particular player. Since you are not sitting face to face, you cannot read your opponents, so note taking is your best substitute.
Once you find an Online Poker Room you feel comfortable with, stick with it. You will get used to the graphics, chat with the same players, and probably enjoy a series of cash bonuses that the Online Casino will offer you to stick with its Poker rooms instead of gadding about looking for others.
Betting limits differ among Poker rooms so try to find one that has the widest range. This will allow you to adjust your game as you progress. As your skill level grows, so will your bets.
Always pick a Poker room that’s well populated. You don’t want to wait hours for the seats to fill up to begin a tournament
You might want to check out this free poker ebook. It answers all of your questions above.
There is definitely good money to be made online. You can find all limits from $10 buy in to $60,000 buy in online. What you play depends on your skills and bankroll. If you’re interested in learning more about playing online poker watching some poker pros play you should check out
They have limits as low as 1-2 cent no limit all the way up to 200-400 no limit games. Playing on-line is a little bit different then playing in a real casino for sure. I play very tight on-line and i don’t bluff as much for sure. Give it a try and see how you do, just be ready to have some bad days, weeks, or even months. Even pros have downswings from time to time. poker is al about the long run, so in the short run you may do well but be ready for a ruff run as well.
best site for poker is pokerstars
Advise for you would be to play Sit and Go tournaments since the entry fee can be as little as 1 dollar and it gives you the most experience for the least cost. other than that they do have cash games starting from 2 cents all the way up to 20 dollar blinds.
i will tell you online poker is hard it gets a lot harder even on the .50/1 tables. You can be a damn good player and only 5 to 10% return on your money. Only the top 1% make over that and you won’t want them on your table. Be advised the online players are harder to bluff then in a real casino.
