In some cases, it feels right to limp with any crappy starting hand, such as 72 off-suit, when X players have limped before me. Let’s assume that the BB is passive and seldom raises in cases such as this one.
About how many players need to have limped before you in order for you to limp with a crappy hand from the small blind? (In other words: what value is X?)
As this question differs a lot by how the players are, we need to set up a model. Assume that everyone has a dep stack, that half are tight, straight-forward players, and that the other half are tight, optimistic ones. There are plenty of bluffs and tricky/weirdy plays. Also assume that the big blind will never raise, to make the math easier.
